Where you're going

Our property is a privately owned, off-grid bush estate of 1,137 acres that has been left largely un-cleared. Linked by over 22 km of private walking tracks, the landscape moves from coastal dunes to sheltered bays, woodland and quiet lagoons — all on one property. Because access is controlled, small groups can move through a range of habitats in a single day without the crowds or disturbance found at public parks.

Why private, uncrowded nature trips deliver more — science & social proof

Research shows time in nature improves mood, reduces stress markers and restores focus — and those benefits are larger when sites are quiet and groups are small. Bakers Walking Co. intentionally runs private or micro-group walks to maximise those restorative gains (reduce rumination, lower cortisol, improve sleep) while giving guests space for reflection, better decision-making and stronger social connection.

Crowded

Popular Destinations (e.g., Cradle Mountain)

  • Mood: still improves, but gains are smaller when trails are busy.

  • Rumination: partial reduction — conversations and noise blunt the effect.

  • Stress markers: modest drops in heart rate/cortisol compared with quiet visits.

  • Social uplift: higher immediate sociability and excitement, but less private reflection.

Uncrowded

Private estate - Bakers Walking Co.

  • Mood: larger and longer-lasting mood improvements after a private day out.

  • Rumination: significant decrease in repetitive negative thinking.

  • Stress markers: bigger physiological recovery (larger falls in cortisol).

  • Connection & sleep: deeper social bonding and better next-night sleep.

“Uncrowded nature gives people deeper calm, clearer thinking and better sleep; crowded outings are sociable and safe but typically deliver smaller restorative gains.”
